Do These Glasses Make My Butt Look Big?

Yes, dear readers, the day hath come when i ask you to weigh in on the flat-out hotness quantitude of a certain item of clothing or accessory. Nothing to do with comfort, practicality, fashion, suitability - just, "are we rocking this look or ain't we". Thumbs up or thumbs down - based on sheer eye appeal.

Usually i try not to approach my wardrobe from such a shallow perspective. Actually, i'm not now, either. No, it's Mr. Eccentric who requested the honest opinion of the Dashing Eccentric readership. The first shot shows him in his natural element - in nature, wearing fabulously unique accessories, stylishly coiffed, and with a cat. (Really, he's as popular with cats as Angie is with wee poochies!)

You will notice he's also sans spectacles in that first pic. He has only worn glasses in the last year or two, and only requires them for driving. Thus the question of style - why wear them around and about unless they truly add to the total look.

So we went out back and took a few pictures for comparison. You get the front view, and a classic profile.

Mr. E's only request is that you voice your brutally frank and completely honest opinion. He cannot yet see his future. He only knows that it lies in your hands.

I thank all of you for taking the time to read and to comment. I must say that i will be relieved when Mr. E receives your considered opinion and can rest his mind about the status of his optical attractiveness. The whole household will be happy when he once again may focus on that which he was born to do.

Cater to the needs and wants of small, furry animals. Thank you and happy weekend!

  1. I love the glasses! Very modern and yet classically styled at the same time. They really show off the angles and planes of Mr. E's face in a great way!

  2. I think the frames suit Mr. E quite well! Besides, without eyeglasses he may be prone to squinting - makes him look mean or annoyed. And he seems like such a nice fella...

  3. Yes, the glasses have it for me. They are distinctive. There is lots more room for imagination with the glasses on than off. But he's a handsome guy, so he doesn't really have to worry either way!

  4. okay, I don't prefer them. Here is my reasoning: the mister has darkish hair and eyebrows and deepset darkish eyes. So your gaze is drawn to his eyes. This pair of glasses has a definite dark boldness/heaviness at the bottoms. I think they distract from the interest of his face. Angie on You Look Fab has some kind of glasses I think are amazing - they are dark and stark and strong at the tops but clear or nothing going on at the bottoms and they just emphasize her eyebrow area and you look at her eyes. This is kind of what I mean.

  5. I like the glasses. In my opinion, they do not detract and may even add to his attractiveness.

  6. Thank you all for chiming in! The man in question is still asleep, i don't know when he is planning to comment. Anyways, thank you and it's great to have varying opinions - altho in most light situations the bottom half does not come across as dark as they do here. The bottoms are darker overall than the top, though. We haven't had optimal lighting situations much recently.

    Happy Weekend! steph

  7. I think they are a very manly style. I noticed that Mr. E has a very square jaw line. Did he try on any glasses that are rounder? I am wondering if it would be easier to tell by having another shape to contrast. I do like the color of the frames. Glasses are one of the hardest accessory to pick out I believe. My husband has a horrible time picking out glasses, when I first met him he was wearing flesh toned frames now he wears silver aviator frames a much better choice for him.

  8. Thumbs up for the glasses. I think he ought to wear them all the time. The bi-color frames are out of the ordinary and great colors, the shape is stylin, and it makes him look like a professor at an art college.

And bonus: when he wears them he WILL be able to see his future ... or at least, that semi coming down the road toward him.

  9. There are some interesting points in time in this article but I don’t know if I see all of them center to heart. There is some validity but I will take hold opinion until I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we want more! .Glasses

  10. oh fiddle! Mr. E is down with some stomach upset, so let me thank you all again for commenting!

To be clear, Mr. E has already purchased these glasses (with progressive lenses), he was mostly wanting to know if he should wear them 'around', when he's not needing them for driving. Vildy, re: your description of glasses, that DOES sound like an attractive style and one i've admired on others. (in fact, i've looked for a similar style for myself in the past, and Mr. E tried some on in this go-round. But the particular styles in stock didn't work (i think some of them had overly-twee colors).

Adrienne, it was the same situation with rounder frames - he did try some, but none of the ones in stock did the trick. I thank both you and Vildy for your suggestions, i know Mr. E has filed them away for future reference!

"...when he wears them he WILL be able to see his future ... or at least, that semi coming down the road toward him." ha! really, i'm so nearsighted i need my glasses in order to find my glasses!

Thank you all again so much - off to work on the next post! steph

  11. I'm a total sucker for a guy with glasses. I'm a bit sad that my own (currently) bespectacled husband is scheduled for lasik surgery tomorrow. I wholeheartedly endorse your Mr. E wearing his sexy glasses even when they are not strictly necessary. They look great. I myself currently have six pairs of not strictly necessary glasses that I wear mostly for fun.

  12. The problem with glasses is that they seem so expensive, one is stuck with just one pair. O NO Having lots of glasses and considering them an accessory to wear as you wish makes it much more fun. Here is what I do. First I get my eyes examined and choose one pair to make sure the perscription is correct. THEN...the fun part... I order a pair of sunglasses *and I wear bi focals, so these are sunglasses...dark at the top and fading to light for reading maps, the speedometer, determining if my dog is between me and the brake pedal, etc... THEN I choose another pair of fun glasses. After about 5 months I generally order another pair. THE SECRET... I order all my extra pairs on line through Zenni Optical...some place in China...where I get the WHOLE set for about 50 dollars a pair...instead of the 300 I paid for my first pair of glasses...before I got turned onto this. It will make the whole wearing of glasses better, believe me...and marvelous dark sunglasses make for safer driving.

  13. It's very trouble-free to find out any topic on web as compared to textbooks, as I found this article at this web page.

  14. of course like your web site however you have to test the spelling on quite a few of your
posts. Several of them are rife with spelling issues
and I in finding it very bothersome to tell the reality then again I
    will surely come again again.
